FOODSHARE

What is Foodshare?

Foodshare is a walk in food service for those who are struggling and in need of food. You do not have to register or fill out any forms to avail of this service. You will be greeted at the door with a warm welcome by our volunteers who are ready to guide you if it is your first time. We invite you to stay for a cup of tea or coffee, a tasty treat kindly donated by our local bakery and some conversations. We love meeting new people, getting to know you more and providing a safe space where you can come and meet others. Over the past 2 years we have built great relationships with those who have came through our doors.

We provide fresh fruit and vegetables and long-life food packs for families or individuals who come through our doors. You can also avail of other extra items that are available that week. We are a non-Profit organisation that runs solely on food & financial donations, we do not receive any form of funding but rely on the provision of God every week.

Foodshare is open every Wednesday from 12:00-2:00pm.

God's Provision never runs dry

Foodshare started with The Widows Jar Project.

The Widows Jar Project began as a direct response to the needs of a few people in the church who were in specific need coming up to Christmas over 10 years ago.

We take literally the command to take care of the widow and the orphan; and every year since, God has supernaturally provided enough to feed hundreds of families locally, some in a specific instance, others for longer periods. We make a point to use this opportunity to tell all of the Love of God for mankind. Then God placed it on our hearts a few years ago to do something more to reach the people of Derry and Foodshare began.

Services

We run a clothing swap, where people can bring clothes they no longer want and take items that they need.

We have contact with a variety of services within our community. If you have any questions come and chat with us.

Come in, get a cup of tea or coffee and enjoy some laughter and conversations.

Every Wednesday 12-2pm

We understand how difficult it can be to ask for help when you are struggling to make ends meet. If you want to contact us prior to coming in for food, use the form provided below.

Our Ethos

HOW WE DO IT

It's our desire to be able to help those who are really struggling. We want to demonstrate God’s love and his provision for us in Christ.

HOW WE DO IT

Everything we give out is donated by local businesses and individuals who share a burden for this need. We receive no government funding and are dependent solely upon donations.

WHAT WE ASK OF YOU

PLEASE only take what you NEED. Take ONE item rather than multiple, be respectful of others, don’t stock pile as by God’s Grace we will be here next week again. Be respectful of not just other people, but this in the House of the Lord.
